Roger D. Smith

Roger D. Smith, Sr., 58, of Stafford, VA formerly of Dothan, WV died on Monday, December 10, 2012 at his home following a long illness. Born May 8, 1954 at Dothan, WV he was the son of the late Artie Layton and Nettie Irene Stover Smith. Roger was an auto body and paint specialist. He was of the Missionary Baptist faith. Two brothers, Arlie Franklin Smith and Joseph Henry Smith and one sister, Barbara Smith Yates preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Wavie Lafferty Smith, three sons, Roger D. Smith, Jr. of Stafford, VA, Rodney D. Smith of Mount Hope and Ryan E. Smith of Stafford, Va, one daughter, Lisa A. Smith of Woodbridge, VA, four brothers, Samuel Smith, Phillip Smith, Jackie Smith and Bobby Smith all of Mossy and four sisters, Tammy Nady and Loretta Walker of Virginia, Bethel Coleman of Texas and Faye Campbell of Illinois. Six grandchildren, Sierra Smith, Cody Smith, Hailey Smith, Alicia Smith, Destiny Smith and Tyler Redding also survive. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2:30 PM at the Kenneys Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Winona with Pastor Lum Toney officiating.
