The book of Revelation Ch. 21 V. 4 tells us “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, or crying, neither shall there be any more pain for the former things are passed away.”
Roger Dale Davis, Sr., age 60, of Mount Hope went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 8, 2016 at home surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with cancer.
Born August 12, 1955 at Maple Fork, he was the son of Shelby Treadway Davis of Prosperity and the late Lotus Davis.
Mr. Davis was a retired surface coal miner. Roger was a simple man who enjoyed a simple life. He will be remembered as a family man and avid out doors man who loved spending time out doors sharing that love with his family. Throughout his life he has dealt with his own trial and tribulations, but toward the end he acknowledged his comfort and peace found only in God's grace.
Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Erma McMillion Davis, who never left his side; one sister, Doretta Davis of Maple Fork; two brothers, Dwayne Davis of Prosperity and Dale Catlett and wife Rusty of Maple Fork. Two sons, Roger Jr. and wife Jennifer of Lester, Russell and wife Savannah of Prosperity. Five grandchildren, Makayla, Emily, Mason, Maddox and Brayden Davis, all which were very close to their Paw Paw.
Throughout his battle he was cared and comforted by so many family and friends which is a testament to the loving family we are blessed with.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Monday, April 11, 2016 at the Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Rev. Jim Bowyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery off of Maple Fork Road.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services on Monday, April 11, 2016.
