Roger W. Cummings

Roger White Cummings , 95, of Oak Hill, WV died on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Glen Burnie Nursing Home in Richmond, VA. Born September 07, 1917 at Wikel, WV he was the son of the late Andrew and Marie Nelsie Whittaker Cummings. He was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church where he was a member of the Shirley Donnelly Sunday School class. Roger was a 1937 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, He was retired from Riverton Coal Company at Krebs. He was preceded in death by his His first wife of 45 years, Alma Pauline Copeland Cummings and his son, Michael Charles Cummings preceded him in death as did sisters, Bessie Cummings and Nona Arthur and brothers, Stanley, Selden and Compton Cummings. Survivors include his wife, Iona Miller Cummings, a granddaughter, Cindi Cummings Jones and husband, Robert, four great grandchildren, Conard Michael Jones and wife, Ashley, Jonathan Jones, Zachary Jones and Rachel Jones and great-great grandson, Conard Criss Jones all of Goochland, VA. He is also survived by a stepdaughter, Joyce Kincaid and her husband, Carroll, along with their family: sons, Scott Kincaid, his wife, Rose and their children, Matthew and Rachel and Danny Kincaid; and daughter, Crystal Lewis, her husband, John and their daughter, Hannah; former daughter-in-law, Kay Criss and her son, Scott and his family as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. David Sneed and Pastor Bryan Knight officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
