Robla G. “Stew” Mankin, Jr. 98, of Dayton, TN formerly of Oak Hill, WV died Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at his home.
Born in Eccles, West Virginia, Stew was the son of the late Robla G. and Amanda “Happy” Stewart Mankin Sr..
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving his country as a Sergeant during World War II. Stew retired from General Motors after 38 years of service. In 2006, he moved from Oak Hill, West Virginia to the Dayton community. Stew was a member of the Corvin Road Baptist Church in Dayton. He was also a member of the Dayton Masonic Lodge #510, F&AM and the American Legion Brady-Williams Post #100. Stew loved to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sybil Joan Mankin, daughter Judith Mankin and son Sparky Mankin.
Survivors include his daughter Robin (Billy) Howell of Dayton, grandchildren Robbie Akubeno, Jim McClain, Rhoda Lamb, Dottie Lamb, Fancy Etherton and Donald Etherton.
Entombment will be at the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley, West Virginia. There will be no local service or visitation.
