Robert Thomas Yarber , 66, of Oak Hill, WV gloriously passed into the loving arms of our Saviour, Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV following a long illness.
Born April 26, 1948 at Sanger, WV Robert ((known as Bob or Bobby) was the second and loving son of the late Robert Shirley and Phyllis O'Neal Yarber.
Bob was Specialist E-5 veteran of the United States Army and served in Okinawa. Upon returning home from service he had schooling and worked on heavy equipment in Colorado 1970-1972. 1972 thru 1973 he was a bus driver for the Fayette County school system; which is when the beautiful little blonde headed girl that he dreamt of often became the love of his life and mother of his sons. 1973-1981 he worked at Quick Service; 1981-2007 he worked for Lambs/Boxley Materials in Lochgelly.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. For many years he coached Little League baseball, Midget Football and Basketball. He liked to hunt and fish; especially with grandson TyBow; sons, Robby and Steve and brother, Vincent - whom he said laughing, he would like to use him for target practice.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Price Yarber and a stillborn infant; grandparents, Thomas Allen Jefferson and Lettie Ann Morrison Yarber and Wheeler and Gertrude Josephine Henley O'Neal; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Martin and Katie McKinney Piotrowski
Survivors include his wife, Joan Lynn Arrington Yarber; two sons, Robert Eugene (Robby) Yarber of Uhrichsville, OH and Stephen Thomas (Steve) Yarber and wife, Amy of Oak Hill; grandchildren, Angela Mae Yarber, Chelsea Neff, Stephen Ty (Squirrel) Yarber, Naomi (Pink) Atkins, and Cody (George) Franklin Jesse Harvey; great granddaughter, Adalynn Tara Grace Saddler all of Oak Hill.
Also surviving are brothers, Donald Yarber (Charlotte) of Fayetteville, Wheeler Yarber (Cindy) of Ocean Springs, MS, Wayne Yarber (Eva) Redstar, and Vincent Yarber of Fayetteville; sisters, Shirley Jones (Jack) of Lochgelly, Linda Yarber of Oak Hill, Barbie Goodson (Farren) of Oak Hill and Phyllis Jean Yarber of Beaver; numerous nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and special friend, Frank.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, in Oak Hill. with Pastor Paul Neil of the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene officiating Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill with military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
After the service family and friends will gather at the Church of the Nazarene Family Life Center for a meal and fellowship.
