Robert Keith Settle

Robert Keith Settle, 47, of Rt 2 Fayetteville, WV died on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born October 23, 1961 in Fayette County, WV he was the son of James Land and Eva Mae Copley Settle of Wriston, WV. Bob attended Oak Hill High School leaving after the 11th grade to enlist in the US Army. He was a disabled US Army veteran having served for seventeen and one half years during which time he received a Silver Star and Presidential Commendation. He was a part of the first armored tank cavalry to enter the fighting during Desert Storm. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Ellen South Settle; daughters, Mary H. Olds of Teays Valley, Jennifer M. Bibb of Kentucky and Jessica L. Settle of Teays Valley and their mother, Juanita Conway of Teays Valley; stepdaughters, Vickie Lynn Sparkman and Destiny Faith Johnston both of Rt 2 Fayetteville; brothers, Timothy James Settle and wife, Judy of Texas, Kevin Settle and wife, Penny of Oak Hill and Nicholas Settle of North Carolina; two sisters, Marlene Settle of North Carolina and Celestial Lafferty and husband, Joey of Oak Hill; his maternal grandmother, Elsie Beals Taylor of Wriston and four grandchildren and one step granddaughter. Mr. Settle has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy made be made to the family or the funeral home to help with final expenses.
