Robert Franklin Painter, age 89, of Oak Hill, WV, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011 at the VAMC in Beckley. Born February 19, 1922 in Oak Hill, he was the son of the late James C. and Emily T. Taylor Painter. Mr. Painter was owner of Robert F. Painter, CPA. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, a 50 year member of Oak Hill Lodge #120 A.F.& A.M., the Mt. Hope Commandery #22 K.T, the Sewell Chapter #24 R.A.M. and the Beni Kedem Shrine Temple, Charleston, WV. He was a member of the Rotary Club and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Painter was founder of the Oak Hill High/Collins High School Alumni Association. He served his country with the US Navy during WWII with the patrol torpedo boat service. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Painter and James Pershing Painter and by one sister, Hortense Belding. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Harrah Painter of Oak Hill; his two sons, John F. Painter and his wife Nancy of Amissville, VA, and Bobby Meadows and his wife Debbie of Oak Hill; his daughter, Sue Ann Zastiwnick of Flat Wood, Ky. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill with Rev. David Sneed officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park Oak Hill with Masonic graveside services being conducted by Oak Hill Lodge # 120 and military graveside services conducted by Oak Hill VFW Post #3110.
