Robert L. Painter

Robert Lee Painter, 69, of Scarbro, WV died on Sunday, November 20, 2005 at his home following a brief illness. Born November 22, 1935 at Milburn, WV he was the son of the late Harold J. and Georgia Carpenter Painter. He was a retired Custodial/Maintenance Worker for the Fayette County Board of Education. He was a US Navy and US Army veteran and served on the U.S.S. Braine destroyer. His companion, Dorothy Meadows and a brother, Everett Painter preceded him in death. Survivors include three daughters, Roberta Mercer and husband, John, of Tucson, AZ, Rose Hughes and husband, Donald, of Ida, MI and Linda Kardia and Patti, of Ann Arbor, MI; brother, Dan Painter of Ypsilanti, MI and two sisters, Betty Burford of Ypsilanti, MI and Jean Tyree of Austintown, OH; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Graveside rites and committal service will be on Friday, November 25, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at Pax Community Cemetery in Pax. with Rev. Ron Sears officiating. Burial will be at Pax Community Cemetery, Pax WV with military rites by VFW Post #3110, Oak Hill, WV. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, WV Division, 301 RHL Blvd., Station 6 & 7, Charleston WV 25311.
