Robert Jackson

December 17, 1925 — August 21, 2003

Robert E. Jackson, 77, of Lochgelly, WV died on Thursday, August 21, 2003 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, WV following a brief illness. Born December 17, 1925 at Lochgelly, WV he was the son of the late Jacob and Elsie Hodge Jackson. He was a retired Coal Miner for New River Coal Company, Lochgelly with 20 years service and he last worked for Pentree engineering as a rodman. He was a member of the UMWA Local 6046. Mr. Jackson was a fisherman and a hunter. Robert was a faithful christian who attended the Oak Hill Gospel Tabernace for more than 40 years being a servant of the Lord. His love and witnessing of the Lord will be sadley missed by family, friends and church family. He served in the Army during World War II having attained the rank of PVT. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Clara, Clora, Hazel, Martha and Margaret; brothers, Frank, Ralph and Caramel Survivors include his wife of 56 years and 10 months, Tresa Woods Jackson Son: Robert E. Jackson, Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Scarbro Daughter: Sandra K. Bragg and husband, David of Lochgelly Brother: Jesse Jackson of Gobel, MI Sisters: Louise Blankman of Syracuse, NY Carolyn Blake of Leander, TX 7 Grandchildren: Danny, Michael, Mary, Becky, Dave, Karen and Larry 11 Great grandchildren: Daniel, Brittney, Cassie, Justin, Colten, Westley, Joshua, Noah, Dave III, Regan and Jacob Visitation will be held at Tyree Fuenral Home on Sunday, August 24, 2003, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Services will be on August 25, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at Oak Hill Gospel Tabernacle in Oak Hil with Pastor Robert Isaac, Rev. Earl Vannetter and Rev. Allen Gallimore officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens., Oak Hill WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3110.
