Robert A. Burnside, Sr.

Robert Alexander Burnside, Sr., 87, of Kincaid, WV died on Sunday, May 03, 2009 at Hilltop Center in Hilltop, WV. Born December 20, 1921 at Kincaid, WV he was the son of the late Luther Preston and Sarah Alice James Burnside. Mr. Burnside was a retired machinist helper for the Virginian and N&W Railway with 25 years service and later worked as a clerk/auto parts salesman for Warren’s Auto Parts in Oak Hill. He served in the US Navy during World War II having attained the rank of Ship's Cook 2nd class. Survivors include his wife, Pauline Deloris Meadows Burnside; two sons, Robert A. Burnside, Jr. and friend, Donna Price of Beckley and Paul Allen Burnside and wife, Judy of Oak Hill; brother, John Paul Burnside of Kincaid and grandchildren, Sarah Lockhart and husband, Cody of Fayetteville, Susan Russell and husband, Ed of Beckley, Robert Alexander Burnside, III of Los Angeles, CA and David Stephen Burnside of Beckley along with their mother, Marti Bennett, Lindsay Ann Burnside of Oak Hill and Shelley Jo White and husband, Joe of Beckley. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Joseph and Daphne and many nieces and nephews. He was looking forward to the birth of his third great grandchild, Leah Kaitlyn White. Services will be on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Delmas Wolfe officiating.
