Robert D. "Bob" Snyder

Robert David “Bob” Snyder, 88, of Mount Hope, WV formerly of West Palm Beach, FL died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, Beckley, WV. Born March 1, 1921 at Jersey Shore, PA, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Edith Kerlin Snyder. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service in Lake Worth, FL; served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and retired as a Master Sergeant from the U. S. Air Force after 23 years of service. Bob attended the Mount Hope Christian Church. He was an avid Mount Hope Mustangs and WVU Mountaineer fan. Preceded in death by one son, Jim Snyder; an infant daughter, Mary Ellen Snyder; a stepson, Gary C. Perry; four brothers, Eugene, Thomas, William, and Charles Snyder; two sisters, Gladys Fry and Miriam Orgitano. Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Gladys Perry Snyder; three sons, Danny Snyder of Bethel, PA, Chuck Snyder of Pottstown, PA and Don Snyder of Norristown, PA; one brother, Clayton Snyder of Myrtle Beach, SC; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Perry of Oak Hill; six grandchildren, Autumn, Lauren, and Phillip, all of Pennsylvania; Gregory Perry and his wife, Amy of Daniels; Jeanay Booth and her husband, Tom of Oak Hill and Brian Perry of Oak Hill; nine great grandchildren; and his special friend, Lucky. Funeral services will be 2:00 P. M. Wednesday, January 13, 2009, at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Minister Ken Overdorf officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Bob will be taken back to his hometown where he will be buried on Friday, January 15, 2009, at Jersey Shore Cemetery, Jersey Shore, PA.
