Richard E. Burford, Sr.

Richard Earl Burford Sr., 69, of Beckley, WV died on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV following a long illness. Born June 21, 1935 at Charleston, WV he was the son of the late Thadeus R. "Dutch" and Moskie Parsons Burford. He was an electrical subcontractor. Mr. Burford was a Baptist and a member of the Moose Lodge. He served in the US Army during Korean Conflict having attained the rank of Airman 3rd class. He was preceded in death by stepsons, Phillip Wayne Burnett and Fred Burnett, Jr. Survivors include wife, Imogene Boone Burford; sons, Richard (Sandy) Burford, Jr., Mark (Jill) Burford and Dale Burford all of Virginia; daughter, Gebora Hara of Connecticut; stepson, Leslie Burnett of Alderson; stepdaughters, Iris (Dallas) Parsons of Mount Hope and Geneva (Andy) Bair of Florida; brothers, Larry Burford of Virginia, Gerald Burford, Florida and Burce Burford of Kentucky; sister, Delores Asbury of Florida; 26 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Friday, October 29, 2004, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Services will be on Saturday, October 30, 2004, at 2:00 pm at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Rev. Allen Gallimore officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3110, Oak Hill, WV.
