Reginald Darrell "R.D." Sutphin

Reginald Darrell "R.D." Sutphin , 74, of Oak Hill, WV died on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born March 26, 1940 at Terry, WV he was the son of the late Reginald Hugh and Edith Mae Burgess Sutphin. R.D. had been the owner of Tom's License Service of Oak Hill for the past 35 years. He had worked at Blackburn Ford in Oak Hill for several years. He was an avid camper. R.D. loved taking his wife Shirley, Nicholas and Josh camping, Cooking, making a campfire, and playing with the boys is what he looked forward to. As a tribute to R.D. the family would like to ask that everyone wear blue jeans for the visitation and service. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of the 3rd floor at BARH, the nurses as Bowers Hospice House and a special thanks to Dr. Kazi from BARH. A grandson, Charlie Kurzyna preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Shirley Elaine Smith Sutphin; "sons" Nicholas Smith and wife, Ashely and son, Alec and Joshua Smith; daughters, Christy Morris, Trena Keefe, Ellen Kurzyna and Amber Adolphson; step-daughter, Terria Catherman of Charlotte, NC ; special cousin, Josie Lateline; uncle Billy Sutphin and a host of grandkids, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill. with Rev. Jimmy Miller, Rev. Patrick Bowling and Rev. Tommy Vicars officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
