Ray St. Clair

February 21, 1953 — April 8, 2018

In loving memory of Ray St.Clair, 65, of Hico, WV – forever in our hearts. Ray died Sunday, April 8, 2018 at his home with family at his bedside.

Ray was born February 21, 1953 in Raleigh County to the late Raymond Carl and Ruth Virginia Sheaves St.Clair. He was married to his loving and devoted wife, Dren St.Clair, for 38 years. They had two children, Aaron and Andrea. He so loved Andrea’s Chris and Aaron’s Veronica and the family pups Milo and Jake. Left to love and remember him is his family including his brother, Michael Sheaves, and his wife, Belva and their children Rodney, Johnny, and Kelley as well as their children and spouses along with Ray’s sister, Sharon Miller, and her husband, Tommy and their daughter, Vanessa.

Ray spent over 16 years working in the WV coal mines and over 31 years running his own camping business, in which he made lifelong “family” and friends from around the world. He was a member of Sunday Road Baptist Church for over 30 years where he attended services faithfully and was actively involved. He was an avid supporter of football and basketball. He especially loved watching all the kids in the family play sports over the years. He enjoyed his time coaching little league basketball in which he felt every child deserved to play equal time and see their potential. All who knew him also knew he was a huge yard sale enthusiast with an eye for a good deal. Ray loved people, loved to laugh, and had a hug for everyone. His larger-than-life personality has created a ripple effect felt by many, including his loyal campers, his amazing church family, and an abundance of friends. Special thanks to all his family and friends who encouraged him during his life with cards, visits, and calls.

A celebration of Ray’s extraordinary life will be held Friday, April 13, 2018 at 6pm at Sunday Road Baptist Church in Hico with Pastor Allen Donaldson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation, in honor of Ray, to Hospice of Southern WV: PO Box 1472, Beckley, WV 25802 or by calling 304.255.6404
