Philip Lee Humphrey, 85, of Eagle Lake, FL formerly of Pax, WV died on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, WV following a brief illness. Born March 22, 1919 at Pax, WV he was the son of the late Charles Snowden and Bertie Virginia Lively Humphrey. Mr. Humphrey was a retired auto mechanic and business owner. He served in the US Army during World War II. Philip was a member of the Long Branch United Methodist Church and was one of the original founders of the Pax Reunion.. He served in the Army during World War II. He was preceded in death by sisters, Gertrude Keffer, Betty Jane Humphrey, Hazel Faoro and Nellie Hartzog; and a brother, Hughie Humphrey. Survivors include wife, Clemotine Davis Humphrey; daughter, Phyllis Shetter and husband, Thomas of Eagle Lake, FL; brother, Carl Humphrey of Sunrise, FL and a sister, Bessie Morris of Glen White. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Monday, July 19, 2004, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Tuesday, July 20, 2004. Services will be on Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at 11:00 at United Methodist Church in Long Branch with Rev. Chalmer Abrams officiating. Entombment will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity WV. Larry Kelly, Bill Tyree, Biddle Williams, Richard Lafferty, Max Tyree, Mickey Dickinson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bud Lively, Dwayne Humphrey, Leonard Lord, Eddie Tindell and Bill Myles.
