Payton Daniel Smith passed away at the residence of his son, William, of Oak Hill, WV on Friday, March 15, 2018 after a long illness.
Born June 8, 1946 in Oak Hill, WV son of the late Juanita Stanley Wollard.
Payton was a coal miner and carpenter by trade. He was a US Army Veteran, serving his country proudly during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a graduate of Fayetteville High School and member of the Milton WV Moose Lodge 2586 and Chapter 2223.
He is survived by his son, William Smith and wife, Vickie of Oak Hill; daughters, Brenda Catherine (Cathy) Smith of Alabama and Cynthia Jean (Cindi) Smith of Kentucky; grandchildren, William Spence, Heather Nicole, Daniel, B.J.,Junior, and Tony; brother Jim Marra of Ohio; sister, Linda High of Oklahoma; step brother, Frank Marra of Beckley; and step sister, Rita Marra. Payton is also survived by his ex wife, Brenda Jean Hague Smith of Oak Hill.
Honoring Payton's wishes, he was cremated and there will be no services.
