Paul Eugene Mullins, 79, of Terry, WV died on Friday, January 09, 2004 at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born April 21, 1924 at Swiss, WV he was the son of the late John Wesley and Annie Darlington Mullins. He was a retired coal miner for Imperial Smokeless Coal Company and was last employed as a school bus driver for Raleigh County. Mr. Mullins was a member of the Orient Hill Baptist Church and Terry Independent Christian Church at Terry. He was a member of the UMWA and the Disabled American Veterans. He was a US Army veteran, wounded in France during World War II and was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Medal, 3 Battle Stars, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Rifleman Badge, Victory Medal and EAME Victory Medal. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Lou Mullins, Gloria June Garten, Janice Mullins and Emogene Harrah; brothers, Howard Elmore, Johnny, Billy and Frank Mullins. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Gene leaves behind a loving family: his wife of 58 years, Ruth McKay Taylor Mullins; sons, Donald and David Mullins; daughters, Bonnie Hudson and Brenda Christy all of Terry Beach; and by 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope, WV on Tuesday, January 13, 2004, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Services will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Rev. Gene Hall officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3110, Oak Hill.
