Patrick Alan Hancock, Jr., 47, of Mount Hope passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 after a battle with cancer at Raleigh General Hospital.
Born January 6, 1970 in Dearborn, MI, the son of Linda Addison Poland and the late Patrick Alan Hancock.
Patrick was a 1988 graduate from Oak Hill High School. He was a supervisor and program coordinator for the Human Resource Development Foundation. HRDF is a nonprofit organization that cleaned streams and waterways in Fayette County after the flood. He loved the work and people he worked with. Patrick was very proud of the work they provided for the state and had a strong commitment.
Before moving back to West Virginia to be with his family, he lived in Florida many years where he loved the ocean and the beach Patrick's greatest wish was to share his testimony once he was well enough. Throughout the entire battle Patrick remained strong and always had a positive attitude toward encouraging others. He was a huge Florida Gators fan. Patrick's fondest memories are of going to Thurmond with his cousins to watch the river.
He is preceded in death by three grandmothers, Brenda Hancock, Margaret Hancock, and Lodema Addison.
Those who will cherish his memory include his loving mother, Linda, with whom he made his home; two sons, Nolan and Nathan Hancock; two stepchildren, Justin Steuer, and Cheyenne Reese; two sisters, Karen (Chris) Cassidy and Kathy (Wayne) Handley; brother , Michael (Courtney) Anderson; two grandpa's, William Addison and John Hancock; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope with Wayne Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call one hour prior to service.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
