Patricia Diane Meadows

Patricia Diane Meadows, age 52, of Oak Hill, WV passed at home on April 18, 2009 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born October 15, 1956 in Oak Hill, WV, she was the daughter of Carlos Coleman of Fayetteville and Charlotte Brinson Owens of Oak Hill. Diane graduated from Collins High School and received two bachelor’s degree in business and education from WV Institute of Technology. In 1999, she received a master’s degree from Marshall University in Adult and Technical Education. She served Fayette and Nicholas counties as the WVU Family and Consumer Science Extension Agent, with emphasis in strengthening families. The focus of her entire career was helping people improve their lives through relationship education, life coping skills, and health issues. Diane also worked diligently to bring healthy marriage and healthy relationships education to West Virginia. She was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church and the Beckley Area Shag Club. She enjoyed music, dance, reading, golf and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Survivors in addition to her parents include her beloved husband of 24 years, David W. Meadows; brother, Paul Coleman and wife Gail and niece Sarah of Fayetteville; step-daughter, Leslie Schlemmer and husband, Todd of Lancaster, PA; step-son, Joseph “Joedy” Meadows and wife, Kristen of Fort Belvoir, Va; five step-grandchildren, Madelyn and Trenton Schlemmer, Jacob Barnett, and Brynley and Aly Meadows and numerous friends and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at the Oak Hill Baptist Church with Rev. David Sneed officiating. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill. The family will receive friends at the Oak Hill Baptist Church, Monday, April 20, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. Michael Meadows, Rick Leatherman, Scott Dunning, Charles Cline, Gary Brinson and Sonny Berry will serve as pallbearers.
