Patricia Faye Bailey

With immeasurable serenity and grace Patricia Faye Bailey, 75 of Clear Creek WV, departed and overcame her six-year crusade against cancer on Sunday, January 16th, 2022. She left quietly which is in contrast of how she existed, always alive with a song, full of laughter, a good story, a dance to her step, and infinite love for all her family, friends and in general anyone she saw that may need a hand.

Born March 27th, 1946, in Willis Branch at the home of her Grandmother, she grew up in “Shotgun Hollow”. The oldest of six, they would spend their days confined to the joys of a barefoot existence, walking a true mile to get to school (honestly, no exaggeration) while never having a single day of recorded absence. She had a twenty five-year career with the Raleigh County Board of Education, first as a Cook, known as someone who could make something from nothing and then on as Head Custodian at Clear Fork Elementary where she was affectionately called “MS. PAT” by all. With a strong work ethic and devotion to the school, especially the students, she always kept a stash of pudding snacks, jello cups, crackers, juice boxes etc.… for those picky eaters who did not like the daily menu, but mainly for those less fortunate to ensure their bellies were full.

Enjoying life and being there for others with a smile was always priority. She was a member of Ewing Creek Church often helping during bible school, church dinners and of course singing her favorite songs. She liked finding bargains, couponing and buying trinkets to get the most out of a dollar and just to have something to give to someone.

Of the many souls welcoming her into heaven with open arms of elation will include her parents, Corbit and Susie Bailey, and Virgil Godby; brother Roy Bailey, grandson John Wilson and step-grandson Mickey Brown. She will be patiently waiting there for her husband Mickey Bailey; her three children; daughter Patricia “Skeeter” and husband Kenny Kelly, son William “Billy” and wife Lora Shepperd, son David and wife Amber Shepperd, grandsons Kenneth Kelly and Weston Shepperd, grand-daughter Olivia Shepperd, brothers Clyde, Tracy and William Bailey, sister Gracie Holley. Also, two additional brothers she found later in life Michael and Danny Godby. Along with six stepchildren; Acie Bailey, Allen Bailey, Vicky Rorrer, Angela Entsminger, Cheryl Benemann, and Kim Hammon; special step-grandson Arron Bailey and many other step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews

Her final years were spent adding to her legacy of good times and laughs through many trips for treatments with the aide of Billy and Lora, and staying up late watching tv, eating leftovers and going to the nail salon with her sister Gracie.

A very special thanks Dr. Bou Zgheib of Cabell Huntington, for being her cornerman, and his staff for providing the exceptional care that extended her time on this earth.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Ewing Creek Community Church, 129 Calvary Lane Clear Creek WV, 25044 with Reverend Loretta Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Pax Community Cemetery in Pax, WV. Visitation for friends will be 2 hours prior to service at the Church.
