Pasquale Pino

Pasquale (Pat) Pino, 85, passed away at his home in Oak Hill, WV on Monday, April 30, 2012 after a long illness. Pat was born on October 20, 1926. His parents, Pietro and Santa Pino, were proud American citizens who immigrated to the United States from Sicily. Pat has four siblings: Josephine Pino Boyerski of Florida; John Pino, wife Mary, of Oak Hill; Pete Pino, wife Bonnie, of Tennessee; and Frank Pino (deceased) , wife June, of Mt. Hope. Pat married Patricia Ann Greer of Kilsyth, WV on March 4, 1960. Pat was a graduate of Mt. Hope High School and attended Beckley College. He served with the U.S. Navy in World War II in Guadalcanal. During his time in the Navy, Pat was awarded the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal. Pat began his career at the Bureau of Mines (later known as MESA, MSHA) in 1946 and retired in 1985. He was a master electrician and a jack-of-all-trades. Pat was a member of the volunteer Mt. Hope Fire Department for many years. Pat had six children: Pasquale (Butch) Pino, Jr. and spouse, Julie of Ramsey, WV; Tina Scott and spouse Robert of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; Jim Pino and spouse Melissa of Shady Spring, WV; Lisa Brewer and spouse Mark of Columbus, GA; Vicki Canterbury and spouse Norton of Laguna Niguel, CA; and Sandi Pino of West Palm Beach, FL. Pat and Patricia had nineteen grandchildren: Shawn, Regina, Chris, Angela, Jessica, Josh, Jordan, Ashleigh, Brandon, Ross, Jillian, Jalynn, Aaron , Lindsey, Jaime, Jeremy, Paige, Brittany and Courtney. Pat and Patricia had thirteen great-grandchildren: Adam, Maya, Jarek, Alex, Alysia, Avina, Jakob, Skyler, Theodore, John, Zack, Ali and Carlie. Pat lived in Mount Hope until 1990, at which time he and Patricia moved to Oak Hill. Pat attended the Bradley FreeWill Baptist Church. Pat was loved by all who knew him. He was famous for his humor, kindness, generosity and was a helper to all. He loved playing the guitar and singing and is known world-wide for his rendition of “Rattle Snake Daddy.” He loved to eat, play poker, tell jokes and spend time in the sun. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, friends and family and was the best husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend in the world! Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at the Tyree Funeral Home in Mt. Hope. Friends are welcome to visit from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Bradley FreeWill Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Peters and Pastor Danny Legg officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pall bearers.
