Orval King

Orval King, 92, of Oak Hill, WV died on Monday, July 07, 2008 at his home after a long illness. Born October 20, 1915 at Kaymoor, WV he was the son of the late Albert and Eva Burton King. Orval was a 1934 graduate of Fayetteville High School. He worked at the Kaymoor Company Store shortly after graduation. He subsequently worked in the Kaymoor mines for many years. Mr. King then took a job with Ames Coal as mining superintendent where he worked for 14 years. His next job was with Cannelton Mining Company as superintendent. Following this he was working for his brother Arthur's mine at Flat Top Colliers when his first wife became ill. He retired in 1980 to care for her. Mr. King was a long-time member and deacon of the Calvary Baptist Church and the Fayette County Black Lung Association for whom he served as treasurer. He loved the Lord and his greatest joy in life was sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone he met. He was preceded in death by first wife, Mary Elizabeth Leete King on Jan 28, 1982 and his second wife, Lena Seelinger Tully King on Dec 8, 2000 and brothers, Normel King, Arthur James King, Samuel H. King and George T. King. Those left to cherish is memory are his wife, Sandra Kay Bragg King; one daughter, Susan Carpenter and her husband, Thomas and their children, David Carpenter, Nancy Easland and Laura Slaven; sister, Della Mae Hudson; brother, Albert King, Jr. eight great grandchildren. Services will be on Friday, July 11, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Hill with Rev. David Richardson officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Thursday from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
