Norman Conner, 81, of Oak Hill, WV died Saturday, January 5, 2008, at his home of lung cancer. He was born November 5, 1926 at Scarbro, WV, a son of the late Andrew and Emily Forbes Conner. Norman retired in 1984 from Elkem Metal at Alloy after 36 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Oak Hill; past member of the Oak Hill Fire Department and a member of the V. F. W. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U. S. Navy on the USS Saratoga. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, Arthur, George, Bob, Bill, Earl, Ken and Clarence Conner; two sisters, Louise Conner and Kathern Martin. He is survived by his wife, Hazel Conner; one son, Keith "K.C." Conner of Oak Hill; three grandchildren, Patrick Conner and John Conner of Oak Hill and Peter Michael Pavlik of Cleveland, OH; two great-grandchildren, Ian Conner and Kanyon Conner and one sister, Helen Burton and her husband, Lester of Jackson, Michigan. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel, Oak Hill, WV. Entombment will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill. The Oak Hill V.F.W. Post #3110 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call from 6 PM until 8 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
