Nora Jane Tygrett

Nora Jane Meadows Tygrett, 86, of Oak Hill, WV died on Wednesday, September 02, 2009 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born August 05, 1923 at Raleigh County, WV she was the daughter of the late Berman Earl Meadows, Sr. and Ollie Gilkerson Meadows Jones. Mrs. Tygrett attended Oak Hill High School and Beckley College and was a graduate of Morris Harvey College, now the University of Charleston, where she received her B.A. degree. She earned her Masters degree from the West Virginia College of Graduate Studies in Elementary Education and was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an international education Honor Society. She was a civil service employee with Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH during World War II. Mrs. Tygrett was a retired teacher for the Fayette County Board of Education having taught at Kingston, Gatewood and Rosedale elementary schools. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Oak Hill where she served as organist for approximately 40 years. Her husband, Marion Harold Tygrett, daughter, Sharon Jane Tygrett and brothers, Bobby Ray Meadows and Berman E. Meadows, Jr. preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Felice Ann Johnson and husband, Leonard of Oil City, LA and Rosemary Lynn Trent and husband, John of Wytheville, VA; a sister, Ruth Daniels and husband, Cliff of Oak Hill; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be on Saturday, September 5, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. David Richardson officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill WV Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Friday, September 4, 2009 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
