Noah A. Rakes, Jr.

Noah Austin Rakes, Jr., 81, of Oak Hill, WV died on Wednesday, December 09, 2009 at his home. Born October 22, 1928 at Hot Coal, WV he was the son of the late Grace Hinchee and Noah Austin Rakes, Sr. He was a retired mine foreman for New River Company. Noah was a member of the Gentry Baptist Church at Sanger and District 29 of the U.M.W.A. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. His brother, Billy Richard Rakes, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Stewart Rakes; two sons, Darrell Rakes and wife, Marsha of Oak Hill and Fred Rakes of Alamo, GA; one brother, Ralph Rakes of Oak Hill and a sister, Mary Smith of Oak Hill. Six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive him. Services will be on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Robert Barley officiating. Burial will be at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, WV with military graveside rites by VFW Post #3110. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Sunday from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
