Nicholas "Nick" Ralph Baracia

Nicholas Ralph "Nick" Baracia , 68, of Oak Hill, WV died on Tuesday, December 02, 2014 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV after a nineteen month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born October 09, 1946 at Irvington, NJ, the only child of the late Nicholas and Anna Catherine Buszko Baracia.
He graduated from Millburn High School in Millburn, NJ in 1965 and came to West Virginia in the fall of that year to attend college.
Mr. Baracia's work history began in advertising sales, from there he moved to a career as a bartender, dabbled in jewelry sales and eventually settled into buying and selling sports memorabilia.
Nick was an all around athlete, being very good at any sport in which he participated. During his playing years, he was recognized and known as one of the finest shortstops and hitters in slow pitch softball in southern West Virginia.
Having no immediate family, Nick is survived by several cousins in other states, but he leaves behind a family of many, many friends in West Virginia.
A memorial service will be on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill. with Rev. Jerry Sears, eulogy-Wayne Bennett and music-George Shuff . Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
He was cremated and his cremains will be sent to Ellington, Conn. to be placed alongside his mother's.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 921 West Neville Street, Beckley WV 25801.
