Naomi V. Backus

Naomi Virginia Pugh Backus, 77, of Oak Hill, WV died on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at her home. Born February 02, 1929 at Backus Mountain, WV she was the daughter of the late Samuel Henry and Myrtle M. Sawyers Pugh. Naomi was the former owner of the White Oak Drug, Oak Hill, WV. She attended the First Brethren Church, Oak Hill, WV. Her husband, James Wilmer, "Jim" Backus; four brothers, Erskine, Elmer, Wilbert and J.D. Pugh and two sisters, Geneva Holt and Velda Anderson preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, James W. Backus, Jr. of Huntington, WV; two daughters, JoAnn Johnson and Jane Skeldon both of Oak Hill, WV; one brother, Garland Pugh of Oak Hill, WV; four grandchildren, Chelsea Backus, Analisse Backus, Suzanne Skeldon and Katherine Skeldon and one step-granddaughter, Melissa Johnson and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at 6:00 P.M. at the First Brethren Church in Oak Hill with Rev. William Skeldon officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Brethren Church, PO Box 82, Oak Hill WV 25901 or the American Cancer Society, WV Division, 301 RHL Blvd., Station 6 & 7, Charleston, WV 25311.
