Nancy Lee Vest Thomas , 84, of Lochgelly, WV died on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV.
Born November 11, 1930 in Fayette County, WV she was the daughter of the late Homer Vest, Sr. and Kathleen Cox Vest.
Nancy was a woman of varied interests and talents - some of which were going to yard sales and flea markets, gardening and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Thomas, Jr.; son, Keith Allen "Spud" Thomas; daughter-in-law, Nancy Faye Thomas; son-in-law, Howard Hammontree; brother, Homer Vest and his wife, Dora; sisters, Sara Austin and husband, Ed and Joyce Parsons and husband, Buddy; brother-in-law, Bob Browning; and sister-in-law, Luanne Vest.
Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, James E. Thomas, III of Summerlee, Robert L. Thomas and wife, Lana of Lochgelly and Charles W. Thomas and wife, Angie of Fayetteville; three daughters, Connie S. Hammontree of Fayetteville, Lois Thomas and husband, Jerrell of Oak Hill and Sharon Sumpter and husband, Terry of Cameron, NC; sisters, Betty Rodes and husband, Jimmy of Cleveland, OH and Leah Browning of Cleveland, OH; and brother, Charles Vest of Cleveland, OH.
She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to Nancy's caregiver, Elaine.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 3:30 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Thomas Fife officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Oak Hill. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
