Myrtle Lou Mckown Lilly

Myrtle Lou McKown Lilly , 83, of Oak Hill, WV died on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at her home. Born June 08, 1928 at Calhoun County, WV she was the daughter of the late Evan and Shirley Powell McKown. Mrs. Lilly was employed for several years by the Fayette County Board of Education having taught at East End Elementary, Oak Hill Elementary and Mount Hope Middle School. She was an avid gardener and cook and devoted to her family. She was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church and an ardent supporter of the sports programs at Oak Hill High School. Her husband, James G. "Jim" Lilly, former Collins High/Oak Hill High School basketball coach, and a sister, Helen Wade preceded her in death. Survivors include one daughter, Timmie Ann Korczyk of Oak Hill, two sons, Kim Lilly and wife, Tracy of Greensboro, NC and James G. "Jimmy" Lilly, Jr. of Oak Hill, sister, Martha "Marty" Booth and husband, Paul of Vienna, and five brothers, Robert "Bob" McKown and wife, Nancy of Fayetteville, Paul McKown and wife, Shirley of Charleston, Edward McKown of Charleston, Theodore "Ted" McKown and wife, Katie of Ocala, FL and Franklin McKown and wife, Deborah of Naples, FL. Three grandchildren, J.J. Korczyk of Oak Hill, Megan Lilly and Kacie Lilly both of Greensboro, NC also survive. A memorial service will be on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill. with Rev. Sam R. Calloway, Jr. officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the OHHS Alumni Association, Inc., PO Box 462, Oak Hill WV 25901.
