Myrtle Bragg Higginbotham

Myrtle Elizabeth Bragg Higginbotham, 84, formerly of Red Star, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 17, 2005. She was surrounded by family at the home of her daughter, Sarah Harris in Camden, TN. Born July 07, 1920 in Fayette County, WV she was the daughter of the late James Buchannon and Sarah Elizabeth Fox Bragg. Mrs. Higginbotham was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arnett Baker Higginbotham who left us on March 17, 1988; four brothers, four sisters and one grandson. Survivors include her six children and their families, Nathan Warren Higginbotham and wife, Betty, of Chesterfield, VA; Arnett Bragg higginbotham and wife, Mary Ann, of Chesterfield, VA; Sarah Harris and husband, Jim,of Camden, TN; Margie Sykes and husband, Ray,of Dutton, VA; Zella Halstead and husband, Gary,of Belleville, IL and Cynthia Barker of Ghent. Myrtle had twelve grandchildren: Tammy Cole, Lisa Butler, Arnie Higginbotham, Kena Gwinn, Kristen Burnley, Todd Lafferty, Steven Sykes, Sarah Eden Halstead, Clark Baker Halstead, James N. Harris, John C. Harris and James C. Barker. She had 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She is also survived by two younger sisters, Carolee and Uldine both of Pittsburg, CA. Myrtle devoted her life to her family. She made her home a warm and welcoming place for anyone who entered. She was a member of the Red Star Baptist Church. Seeing life as a gift from God and an opportunity to serve others, she took every opportunity to help anyone in need. We will forever love her and recall the joy she brought to each of us. Truly a virtuous woman, we will greatly miss her physical presence in our lives but remember her Godly teachings. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV on Thursday, January 20, 2005, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Services will be Friday, January 21, 2005, at 11:00 at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill, WV with Rev. Randy Sunderland officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV. Pallbearers will be Arnie Higginbotham, Clark Halstead, Jimmy Harris, John Harris, James Barker and Eddie Butler.
