Mitchie S. Adkins

Mitchie Steward Adkins , 74, of Robson, WV died on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born December 18, 1935 at Deepwater, WV he was the son of the late Frenchie and Erma Ruth James Adkins. Mr. Adkins was a member of the Robson Freewill Baptist Church, Robson. Mitchie worked as a painter for the State of West Virginia in Charleston for five years and as a security guard for Montgomery General Hospital for four years. . He was a US Army veteran. A sister, Rachael Vest preceded him in death as did his best friend Jake, his dog whom he missed so very much. Surviving are his loving wife and companion of 31 years, Betty, daughters, Kathleen Jarrell of Robson and Patricia Smith of Robson, Marilyn Pridemore of Saint Albans, Theresa Jarrell of Romulus, Mich. and Michelle Settle of Massillon, OH. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and last but not least his pet dog, Baby. Graveside rites and committal service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Oak Hill with Deacon Carlos Taylor officiating and military graveside rites by Oak Hill VFW Post 3110. Burial will follow. Family wishing to attend the graveside rites may meet at the funeral home by 10:30 A.M.
