Mildred L. Legg Herndon , 90, of Princeton, WV formerly of Fayetteville, WV died on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the Rockin' Chair Residential Care in Lerona, WV. Born May 13, 1921 at Pax, WV she was the daughter of the late Zenas H. and Ramona McVey Legg. Mrs. Herndon was a retired secretary having worked for Merchants and Miners Bank in Oak Hill for 40 years. She was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church where she attended the Donnelly Sunday School class. Mildred was a 1938 graduate of Oak Hill High School and prior to declining health had been a supportive member of the OHH/CHS Alumni Association. Her husband of 60 years, Clarence G. Herndon preceded her in death on Aug. 13, 2005. Survivors include one sister, Mary Legg Heslep of Princeton, two nephews, Thomas J. Heslep and wife, Sharon of Princeton and Michael J. Heslep and wife, Ruth of Woodsfield, OH, three great nephews, Aaron Heslep of Princeton, Mike Heslep of Grundy, VA and James Heslep of Bridgeport and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Herndon of Charleston. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. David White officiating. Burial will be at High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
