Mildred Opal Backus

Mildred Opal Cooper Backus, 90, of Oak Hill, WV died on Friday, March 11, 2005 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, WV. Born April 26, 1914 at Racine, WV she was the daughter of the late Cleve and Minnie Miller Cooper. Mrs. Backus was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred Wetzel Backus; son, Wetzel Backus; sister, Goldie Campbell; four brothers, Bobby Gene, Virgil, Delford and Wilson Cooper abnd a great grandson, Derrike Miller. Survivors include two sons: Norman Backus of Newark, DE and Shelvey "Red" (Alice) Backus of Oak Hill; three daughters: Mayzella (Herb) Braswell of Roanoke, VA, Erma Lynn (Dave) Francioni of Beare, DE and Joyce (Jim) Boyd of Van Wert, OH; one brother: Randy Cooper of Del Ray Beach, LA; one sister: Mayzella Mahan of Oak Hill; 16 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill on Monday, March 14, 2005 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Services will be on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Minister Andy Burns officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Oak Hill WV.
