Michael J. Murphy

Michael John Murphy, 16, of Gatewood, WV died on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at his home. Born December 07, 1988 at Beckley, WV he was the son of Glenn and Dianne Hankinson Murphy. He was a sophomore at Fayetteville High School. Michael was a member of the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill, WV. He graduated from SS Peter and Paul Catholic School. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved roller blading and snowboarding. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, George Hankinson and paternal grandparents, Carl and Helen Murphy. Additional survivors include sisters, Melody Hale and husband, Scott, of Oak Hill, Megan Murphy and Madeline Murphy both of Gatewood; brother, Jody Murphy and wife, Veronica, of Parkersburg; maternal grandmother, Marie Hankinson of New Baltimore, PA; godparents, Tom and Teresa Hankinson of Eldersburg, MD; two nephews, Andrew Ash and Connor Murphy; and a niece, Sarah Hale. Visitation will be held at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill, WV on Tuesday, March 22, 2005, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM where a prayer service will be held at 8:30 PM. An additional visitaion will be from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday, March 24, 2005, at St. John's Catholic Church, New Baltimore, PA. Services will be on Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Oak Hill. with Father John P. McDonough officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 24, 2005, in St. John's Catholic Church Cemetery, New Baltimore PA. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to SS Peter and Paul Catholic School, 123 Elmore Street, Oak Hill, WV 25901.
