Melvin Eugene Manning

Melvin Eugene Manning , 90, of Dothan, WV died on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Beckley, WV.

Born October 25, 1924 at Pemberton, WV he was the son of the late Howard and Nancy Marshall Manning.

Mr. Manning was the retired owner of Community Exxon in Crab Orchard. He was of the Baptist faith, an avid WVU Mountaineer Fan and was a World War II US Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Manning, Howard "Sarge" Manning and Okey Manning; and sisters, Willie M. Cox and Virginia M. Carman.

Those left to cherish hs memories include his wife, Marcella Toney Manning; sons, Stephen Manning of Troutville, VA and Michael L. Manning of Grandview; daughter, Kristen G. Thompson of Hinton; brothers, Robert Manning of North Carolina, Donald L. Manning of Tennessee, Roy Virgil Manning of MacArthur and Ross Manning of Elyria, OH; sisters, Helen M. Preast of Ohio and Nancy Jean Blevins of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Lum Toney officiating. Burial will be at Peters Cemetery in Dothan. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all of Melvin's caregivers.
