Melvin Cecil Hodge

Melvin Cecil Hodge , 71, of Oak Hill, WV died on Monday, March 24, 2014 at his home. Born January 25, 1943 at Summerlee, WV he was the son of the late Henry Charles and Ruby Erma Crawford Hodge. He was the owner of M.G.C. Trucking. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Summerlee. Melvin was a proud veteran of the military having been in both the US Army and the US Navy Seabees. He served 10 1/2 years and made three tours in Vietnam. Two brothers, Ray Bowen and Henry Hodge preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Randa Gail Perry Hodge; son, Rev. Melvin Carlos Hodge and wife, Lisa Dawn of Oak Hill and a sister, Edwina Artis of Galax, VA. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Brandon Michael Wilburn and Bryanna Dawn Cummings; great grandchildren, John Wilburn, Jordan Wilburn, Braylen Hodge, Aleah Cummings and Bradley Cummings and three brothers-in-law, John Perry, Glen Perry and Greg Perry. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 7:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Mike Angelona officiating and with military rites conducted by Oak Hill VFW #3110. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Hodge will be cremated following the service.
