Mayzella Cooper Mahan, 96, of Spanish Fort, AL formerly of Oak Hill, WV passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016.
Born May 20, 1919 at Maxine in Boone County, WV she was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Minnie Maude Miller Cooper.
Preceding her in death were her husband, William Howard Mahan; son, William Randall “Randy” Mahan (on Jan. 28, 2016) and all of her brothers and sisters.
She was resident of Oak Hill until 2009 when she moved to Spanish Fort to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Mayzella graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1937 and had many jobs over the years - her last and favorite was with Jim Lively Insurance. She enjoyed reading, working crosswords puzzles and eating Reese's cups. She attended the Church of Christ in Oak Hill and Spanish Fort.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary K.Curry and husband, Dallas; three grandchildren, Chris Mahan, Deidre Wiley and Dallas Curry, Jr.; great grandchildren, Alexander Mahan, Connor Mahan, Emma Wiley, Jackson Wiley, Hayden Wiley and Leah Cutler; and one great grandchild, Emmett Cutler.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and two very special friends, Polly Crockett and Betty Billings.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, February 11, 2016, at the Church of Christ, 611 Jones Avenue, Oak Hill with Ryan Scott and John Scott officiating.
