Max Adrian Elkins, 77 of Oak Hill, WV died on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 24, 1938 in Lyburn, WV, he was the son of the late Halbert Morgan and Hazel Deal Elkins.
Max was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Patricia Wolfe Elkins; by two sons, Ricky Elkins and Dean Morgan Elkins and by a daughter, Jane Gaas; brother, Jack Elkins; and sisters, June Hurley and Connie Baisden.
He graduated from Logan High School in 1956. Upon graduation Max joined the United States Army in 1956 and served as a Military Policeman until 1959.
Max was owner and operator of Plateau Printing and Office Supplies from 1970 until 2011 at which time he sold the business. He was also a Firefighter Engineer for Oak Hill Fire Department for 33 years.
He was a member of the Scarbro United Methodist Church and Sand Branch Worship Center.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Sandra Kidd and Carla Archuletta, her husband Chris; his daughter-in-law, Sheryl Elkins all of Oak Hill; his brothers Buddy Elkins, of Lyburn, WV, Jerry Elkins, of Fort Orange, Florida, and Tommy Elkins, of Sevierville, Tennessee; a sister, Judy Murrman of Beckley; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family members and special friends.
Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Harold Fuller, Dr. Charles Miller and Pastor Ken Sowder officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Oak Hill. Oak Hill Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.
