Mattie Lilly Massie

Our loving mother, Mattie Lilly Massie , 105, of Carlisle, WV died on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Jane Toney in Oak Hill, WV. Born February 08, 1908 at Crumps Bottom, WV she was the daughter of the late B.C. "Chap" and Mary M. Sweeney Lilly. Mattie was a chartered 75 year member of the First Baptist Church of Scarbro. She was a member of Gain. Her husband, Charlie Raymond Massie and a son, William Lee "Bill" Massie preceded her in death as did six brothers and three sisters. Survivors include two sons, Ted Massie and wife, Charlotte of Carlisle and Joe Massie and wife, Nancy of Oak Hill; two daughters, Anna Mae Moskal of Shelby Township, Michigan and Mary Jane Toney and husband, Adam of Oak Hill; one sister, Virginia Rorrer of Lindside and two half brothers, Jimmy Lilly and Shirley Lilly both of Lakeland, FL. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and special friends, Pat Kistler and Betty Moore of Charlotte, NC. Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Kenny Smith and Bob Creed officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Paul Massie, Ted Massie, Jr., Keith Massie, Brandon Massie, Charlie Toney, Lee Massie, Greg Massie and Rob Massie will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to extend special thanks to caregivers, Carol Brown and Henrietta Massey. Also a heartfelt thanks to New River Health Center, Plateau Medical Center, Hilltop Nursing Home and Hospice of Southern West Virginia.
