Mary Frances Stone Perry

Mary Frances Stone Perry, 86, of Mount Hope, WV died Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. Born December 17, 1926 at Kilsyth, WV, she was the oldest daughter of the late Clarence Mahlon and Blanche Lee Farrish Stone. She was retired from the Fayette County Board of Education as a school teacher from Mount Hope Elementary School and was a former store clerk for the New River Company at the Kilsyth and Mount Hope stores. There was nothing that pleased her more than to see her former students and hear of their accomplishments in life! She attended the Kilsyth and Oswald Elementary Schools and graduated from Mount Hope High School in 1944; was a graduate of Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN and Morris Harvey College in Charleston, WV. Mary was a member of the Kilsyth Free Will Baptist Church since Easter Sunday 1947. She was active in the church, as a past president and member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the church, taught Sunday School for over 40 years, served as Choir Director and a member of the Adult Choir, and directed the VBS program for many years. She served as a past president and past secretary of the West Virginia State Ladies Auxiliary of Free Will Baptists. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Winolia Chapter No. 59, Order of the Eastern Star, Mount Hope; the West Virginia and Fayette County Association of Retired School Employees and was a member of the former Suburban Homemakers Club in Bradley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray C. Perry on January 28, 1978; one sister, Betty Lou Stone; and three brothers, Cledith Stone, Ernie Stone and Todd Stone. Survivors include her son, Ronnie Perry of Mount Hope; two sisters, Pat Renfro of Maple Fork, WV and Freda Lee Cincinnati of Boomer, WV; two brothers, Jack Stone of Holden, WV and Jim Stone of Bluefield, WV; caregiver and niece, Ginny Deal Price and numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be on Monday, November 25, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Rev. Jim Sturgill and Rev. Dana Gatewood officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home at Mount Hope on Sunday, November 24, 2013 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Mary's family would like to express their deep appreciation for the care she received on 4 South at Raleigh General Hospital and at Bowers Hospice House.
