Mary Elizabeth Brunton Simpson, 83, of Oak Hill, WV formerly of Mt. Gilead, NC died on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Hidden Valley Nursing and Rehab Center in Oak Hill, WV. Born October 15, 1922 at Montgomery, NC she was the daughter of the late Vinton Carr and Mary Haywood Brunton. Mrs. Simpson was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mt. Gilead, NC. She was a graduate of Appalachian State University and a retired math teacher and high school supervisor with 38 years service from the Montgomery County Schools. Her husband, Benjamin Franklin Simpson preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Benjamin F. "Benjy" Simpson and wife, Alma, of Oak Hill; two sisters, Annie Ruth Johnson and Helen Poe both of Troy, NC; one grandson, Benjy F. Simpson of Oak Hill. Visitation was held at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC on Saturday, May 20, 2006, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM followed by graveside rites and committal at 3:30 P.M. at the Sharon Cemetery, Highway 731 E. in Mt.
