Mary Roop

Mary Ellen Roop, 86, of Dothan, WV took the hand of an angel and left her earthly home on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Plateau Medical Center, Oak Hill, WV. Born May 10, 1922 at Cranberry, WV, she was the daughter of Frederick G. Osborne and Delda Mae Harvey Osborne Creed. Mary formerly worked at the G.C. Murphy and Woolworth's in Oak Hill. She was a member of Dothan Community Church at Dothan, was a former member of the Oak Hill Moose Lodge and was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omri Cleophus "Jiggs" Roop; by one sister, Margaret Ann Treadway and by a son-in-law, Larry Leffel. Surviving are, her daughter, Linda Lee Leffel of Oak Hill; her two sons, Kenneth A. Jones of Oak Hill and Robert A. Roop of Dothan; six grandchildren, Angela Chicheesky and husband, Mike, Kari Elkins and husband, Mark, Jessica Roop and her mother, Charlene, and her brother, Eric, Robert Roop and his wife, Julia, granddaughter, Lori and grandson, Jami; four brothers, Bob Creed of Scarbro, John Creed of Mount Hope, George Creed of Maysville, Jerry Osborne of Ohio. A special expression of gratitude to Karen Burtt, friend and caregiver. Graveside service and committal will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill with Bob Creed officiating. Entombment will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Oak Hill. Friends may call from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at the mausoleum prior to the service.
