Mary Elizabeth Rakes Smith , 80, of Oak Hill, WV died on Wednesday, April 03, 2013 at Hilltop Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hilltop, WV. Born May 08, 1932 at Dunloup, WV she was the daughter of the late Noah Austin Rakes, Sr. and Grace Augusta Hinchee Rakes. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Oak Hill Alliance Church and was a homemaker. Her husband, Howard Richard Smith preceded her in death on May 11, 1995. She was also preceded by brothers, Billy Richard Rakes, Noah Austin Rakes, Jr. and Ralph Rakes. Survivors include daughter, Gayle Humphrey of Oak Hill, son James Smith of Oak Hill, two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Pastor Albert Bowman officiating. Burial will be at Hilltop Cemetery at Hilltop. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
