Mary Jane Lucas King, 97, of Oak Hill passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley.
Born October 13 1927 she was the daughter of the late John and Ada Fitzgerald Lucas.
Mary Jane was a graduate from Oak Hill High School and worked for 25 plus years as a secretary for Collins High School in Oak Hill. She was a devoted Christian and in her leisure she enjoyed reading and knitting. Her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by her family whom she loved deeply.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband James “Bud” P. King; daughter, Rose Mary Christian; son in law, William "Jocko" Booth III; brother, Sydney Lucas; and sisters, Gloria Meeks and Ruth Dunn.
Those left to cherish her wonderful memory include her loving daughter, Becky Booth; 3 grandchildren, Amy Beth Hunt, Brook Stephens (Scotty) and Kerby Wolfe (Shawn); 6 great grandchildren, Eason Hunt, Brady Hunt, Addison Stephens, Ty Stephens, Brogan Wolfe, and Seth Wolfe; and son in law, Butch Christian
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill. Burial will follow at High Lawn Memorial Park in Oak Hill.
Visitation for friends will be from 12 Noon until 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the funeral home in Oak Hill.
Pallbearers will be Butch Christian, Eason Hunt, Brady Hunt, Scotty Stephens, Ty Stephens, Shawn Wolfe, and Seth Wolfe.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Carrie Beth Bowling Scholarship Fund.
