Mary Ruth Edwards Hartwell

Mary Ruth Edwards Hartwell , 90, of Mossy, WV formerly of Powellton, WV died on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Hilltop Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Hilltop, WV. Born September 12, 1921 at Montgomery, WV she was the daughter of the late Gomer and Maggie Vaughn Edwards. Mrs. Hartwell attended the Fairview United Methodist Church, Mossy and was a homemaker. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, William M. "Mack" Hartwell, two daughters, Shirley Kourpel and Mary Franklin, a special sister-in-law, Nellie Hartwell, two brothers, two sisters, five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Survivors include daughters, Margaret Grindstaff of Corinne, Della Blake of Montgomery, and Nancy Compton and husband, Russell of Mossy and a son, Kenny Hartwell and wife, Linda of Cleveland, OH. She is also survived by twenty three grandchildren, fifty four great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Tyree Funeral Home in Oak Hill with Rev. Arolette Stover officiating. Burial will be at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
