Martha Lynn Campbell Draper of Princeton, WV passed away Sunday, November 18, 2007 while a patient at Princeton Community Hospital. She was 58 years old. The daughter of the late Cecil and Grace Bays Campbell, she was born in Oak Hill, WV. She was a graduate of Collins High School in Oak Hill. Martha is survived by devoted husband, William “Bill” H. Draper, III of Princeton, loving and supportive daughters, Jennifer Rivituso of Charlotte, N.C. and Allison Draper of Princeton, young grandchildren, Jack and Stella Rivituso of Charlotte, N.C., sister, Carole Sappington of Melbourne, Fla., niece, Dawn Sappington Smith of Chula Vista, Calif., and her very special “second mom” Betty Draper Gates of Princeton. In 1971 Martha was awarded a BA Degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Specialization, from Concord College, Athens. A Master's Degree in Communications Studies from WV University Morgantown was completed in 1986. Martha's 26-year teaching career influenced many children and their families at the following locations: Concord College Child Development Center, Athens Elementary School, Cherry River Elementary School in Richwood, Lashmeet Elementary School, and Mercer Elementary School. She was named Mercer County Language Arts Teacher of the Year in 1992. Martha's activities outside of her family were many. A few highlights include: Residential Supervisor and/or Presenter at multiple WV Governors' Summer Institutes; WVEIS Governor's Summer Institute Mentoring Program; a board member of the Princeton Public Library; an elder, deacon and Sunday School teacher at Princeton Presbyterian Church; board member and volunteer at Princeton Community Hospital; and elected member of the Princeton City Council. A memorial celebration will be held at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home, 1507 N. Walker Street, Princeton on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to the service hour. n lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Martha's memory to the Volunteers of Princeton Community Hospital, 12th Street, Princeton, WV or to the Expansion Program of Princeton Public Library, 205 Center Street, Princeton, WV.
