Mark David Burgess

Mark David Burgess Jr., 19, of Lexington, NC died on Thursday, July 22, 2004 at in San Diego, CA from injuries received in a tragic automobile accident. Born September 28, 1984 at Beckley, WV he was the son of Mark David Burgess, Sr. and Tracy Ellen Lilly Burgess of Lexington, NC formerly of Oak Hill, WV. He was stationed with the US Marine Corps at Camp Pendelton, CA. Mr. Burgess grew up in Carlisle, WV and moved to Lexington, NC in 1999 with his family. He was a 2003 graduate of Central Davidson High School, Lexington. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Alva Burgess, Sr. Survivors include his wife, Courtney Danielle Hall Burgess; brothers, Christopher and Thomas Burgess both of Lexington, NC; sister, Amanda Burgess of Lexington, NC; maternal grandmother, Linda Hancock of Oak Hill; maternal grandfather and step grandmother, Larry and Mae Lilly of Elkins; paternal grandmother and step grandfather, Bonnie and George Smith of Oak Hill; maternal great grandmother, Annabell Lilly of Shady Spring; paternal great grandmother, Avenelle Coffman Hurley of Oak Hill. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends, Kim Ellis, PFC Anel Medovick and PFC Mark Allison. Visitation will be held at Tyree Funeral Home on Thursday, July 29, 2004, from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Services will be on Friday, July 30, 2004 at 11:00 am at Tyree Funeral Home, Oak Hill with Rev. Ralph Shupe officiating. Burial will be at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill WV with full military honors.
