Marjorie G. "Sap" Smith, 82, of Oak Hill died Monday, July 5, 2004 at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill after a long illness. She was born July 3, 1922 at Lochgelly, WV, a daughter of the late D. R. and Clara Elizabeth Frye Valentine. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and working puzzles. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Mayme E. Wheeler, Emogene V. Hylton and Thelma V. Ammons and her stepmother, Reba E. Valentine. Survivors include her husband, Ray L. Smith of Oak Hill; three children, David R. (Kay) Smith of Oak Hill, Joan D. (Larry) Stowers of Oak Hill, Donald G. Smith of Pulaski, VA; six grandchildren, Larry A. Stowers of Fayetteville, Becky Treadway of Scarbro, Danny Stowers of Oak Hill, Niki Cochran of Oak Hill, Redawna Harler of Page and Tracy Smith of Oak Hill; eleven great-grandchildren, Molly Stowers, Wesley Stowers, Madison Stowers, Ciera Belcher, Rheagan Belcher, Andrew Smith, Jackson Smith, Danny Saye, Austin Harler, Kelsey Harler and Kayleigh Saye. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 8, at 11:00 AM at Tyree Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill with Rev. Bill Menefee and Rev. James Worrell officating. Entombment will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Oak Hill. Pallbearers will be Larry A. Stowers, Danny L. Stowers, Tracy Smith, Doug Dickerson, Terry Treadway and David Cochran. Friends may call from 6 until 9 PM Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
