Mrs. Marie "Gladys" (Smith) Souk, of Dothan, West Virginia, born on February 15, 1923 in McAlpin, West Virginia, to the late Frank and Della Smith passed away at age 95 on December 19, 2018 in Beckley, West Virginia.
Marie was married to the late Eddie Souk.
She is survived by her sons and their spouse's, Frank E (Alaine D.) Souk and Eddie (Pam) Souk Jr.; brothers, Estel Wayne Smith and Larry Smith; sister, Rose Beatrice Durham; and grandchildren, Frank E Souk Jr, and Carolyn, Christopher Souk, Scott Edward Souk, Sean Snyder, Jamie Keyes, and Jennifer Roshar; great great grandchildren Ava, Addie, and Caroline Souk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marie was proud of being a Rosie the Riveter, representing the many women who worked in factories and shipyards during World War II supporting our troops.
She took part in her two boys activities throughout her life by being a Cub Scout Den mother, little league sponsor and organizer.
Marie remained an active part of her community until the last stages of her life and maintained a deep love and devotion to the Federated League and Mount Hope Garden Club with whom she was not only was a member, but served as President. This carried over into her everyday life with her love of plants and flowers.
She and her husband were entrepreneurs operating multiple businesses such a taxi, restaurant and ceramics companies.
A special thank you to Dr Scott Lostetter and his staff for their excellent care for our mother throughout her life . Additionally, the Staff at Raleigh General Hospital 2nd Floor North for the recent care our Mom received. We cannot express our thanks enough for the diginity of care our Mom received in the final days she had with us from the Staff at Bowers Hospice of Southern West Virginia.

Friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation at Tyree Funeral Home, Mount Hope on Friday December 21 from 11: 00 to 1:00 pm with service being at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
