A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother and proud great grandmother, Marie Elizabeth Gallagher Herrmann, 83, of Temple Hills, MD and Oak Hill, WV died on Monday, January 01, 2007 at her home in Oak Hill. Born July 07, 1923 at Washington, DC she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Floyd Gallagher. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Herrmann was a member of the St. Philip's Catholic Church, Camp Springs, MD. As a child growing up during the depression, she perservered through her strong Irish Catholic faith. Marie was baptized at St. Gabriel's Rectory in Washington, DC and was educated at Saint Ceceila's Academy for girls from which she was proud graduate of the class of 1942. At the Academy she made lifelong friends that she always enjoyed seeing at her many class reunions. Following her marriage to her true love, Robert on March 30, 1943 she made our nation's capital her primary home where she was a member of Saint Phillips Parish. Marie found great joy in spending the Christmas holiday in Oak Hill, WV with her family. Likewise she treasured her many friends and neighbors in Oak Hill. Her husband, Robert B. Herrmann and a brother, Charles Gallagher, Sr. preceded her in death. Survivors include daughter, Arlene Frances Craddock of Glasgow, WV; grandson, William Ardie Craddock, Jr. and wife, Michell of Oak Hill, WV; two great grandsons, Noah and Camden Craddock and a sister-in-law, Francis "Chick" Gallagher of Alexandria, VA. She is also survived by a nephew, Chuck Gallagher and wife, Pam and their children, Diana, Chris, Kelly and Patrick of Alexandria, VA; an uncle, James Floyd of Leisure World and special friends, Marie Aley, Amelia Collins, Patricia Reid and Valy Robey. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Oak Hill. with Father Paul Yuenger officiating. Burial will be 2:00 pm at the Rescurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD on Thursday, January 4, 2007.
